What's the best way to make this year better than the last?
Make tiny habits!
When I started making my habits easily achievable and simple, my life really started to change for the better. I can now stick to habits long term rather than only when my motivation is high (like in the new year).
I used to try to take on these huge giant goals that I would stick to for a hot minute, and then bail on soon after, and spiral into feeling frustrated with myself for not doing it.
BJ Fogg, author of Tiny Habits, has a lot of great insight on this topic. "Keeping changes small and expectations low is how you design around fair-weather friends like motivation and willpower. When something is tiny, it's easy to do- which means you don't need to rely on the unreliable nature of motivation."
Start as small as possible and you will find success. Feeling successful doesn't require moving mountains, it can take as little as 5 minutes in your day. If you want to workout everyday, start with two daily push-ups, then build up later.
Keep this in mind as you create your New Year's Resolutions!
